I once read this story somewhere. Can't remember how it goes exactly but it's something like this:

A jobless man applied for the position of office boy at a company.

The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

"You are employed." He said." Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start."

The man replied "But I don't have a computer, neither an email."

I'm sorry", said the HR manager, "If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job."

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the Operation three times, and returned home with $60. The man realized that he can survive by this Way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late Thus, his money doubled or tripled every day.

Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles. 5 years later , the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US .

He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance.

He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was concluded, the broker asked him his email. The man replied, "I don't have an email". The broker answered curiously, "You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an email?!!"

The man thought for a while and replied, "Yes, I'd be an office boy!"

I love this story a lot. I'm sure different people will derive different morales from this story. To me, I use it to remind myself, don't look back. There's no point in regreting what you have done or have not done, just work forward and something better might just turn out.

Gross. Those that I buy stay stagnant or drop. Those that I'm eyeing on, but don't buy, shoots up like rockets. Out of two, the one I choose doesn't move, the other doubles. Those that I claim profit, shoots up AFTER I claim profit. On top of that, I kena Forced Sell AND Short Sell because I forgot the date I bought. Argh!!! Disgustingly gross. Bleah.

I'm going to look for a fengsui master for advice.

Bullfight

One of the events that gave me a lasting impression was the bullfight in Madrid.
I used to think that a bullfight was a one on one between a man and a bull. I was wrong. It was an eye-opening experience anyway. Pardon me if I do not know the technical terms.

This is the stadium where the bullfights are held

These guys will lead the bull to run around a few circles/ The man on the horse will pierce a spear into the bull's back for (first blood!)

And the matador comes out/ A man stabs a dagger into the bull's brain to make sure that it's dead

Horses dragging the dead bull/ The crowd cheering and waving white hankerchiefs, shouting 'ole ole' at a good show. The matador will be awarded either the bull's ears or tail if it's a good show.

One peculiar thing I noticed was that the bull never seemed to attack any of the humans. All they did was to charge at the flags/waving cloths. The matador could even turn with his back facing the bull and walk away.

It's not a good show for the faint hearted. Some of my friends left after the first bullfight. All together, 6 bullfights were shown, with 3 different matadors taking turns.

Back from Madrid

Just came back from Madrid and Toledo. Beautiful place, great shopping, (minus the fact that I don't appreciate the food, and that the people don't seem very friendly to asians). Europe is indeed a shopping paradise. Had an initial budget of S$1,000 to spend there and I ended up spending over $3,000. There are just so many good buys over there! Plus the tax rebates! I really couldn't help myself!

And these are the really really really really good buys which are so much cheaper in Spain:

Camper shoe x 1pair, Camper slippers x 1 pair, Loewe wallets x 2, Loewe bag x 1, swarovski ring x 1, swarovski necklace x 1, zara ties x 2, Pull & Bear T shirts x 2, H & M shirts x 25, mango bag x 1, LV wallet x 1

There are just so many things I wanted to buy but had not enough time. Wanted to grab some zara shirts at S$40 but was really too tired to try them. And I looked like an idiot grabbing so many H & M shirts ,like some 'suaku' like that.

Recently I've been having a strange feeling every night before I sleep.

That I'll not be waking up in the morning.

It's really a weird feeling, like your body tells you that it's sick of carrying out routines for you everyday and doesn't want to do it anymore.

Maybe it's telling me to take life at a slower pace.

Lots of work and meetings and trainings and functions now, almost everyday.

Anyway, will be taking a long break end of this month. I've been looking forward to it for months.

My Sammi has a stone the size of a thumb at her bladder area. Now she's vomitting and having a fever. I hope nothing happens to her. The doctor at the hospital just told me that she needs to undergo an operation which cost $500. Anyone knows of a cheaper surgeon instead of Mount Peasant?

I just ate defu lane crab 2 days ago, and it's really pretty good. The place was a bit hard to find though, and a super irritating taxi driver definately didn't helped much.

Anyway, I've been hearing so much about the crabs at these two places that I went to try them.

1) Still Road Crab

Their black pepper crab is supposed to be very good. And you've got to go early to order the crabs. If you go to the place about 7 or 8 plus, even on a weekday, there's a chance that you have to wait for 30mins to 1hour for your crab. Go around 8 plus, 9 plus or evenings on weekends, they might even tell you that they have no crabs left. Some of my colleagues have went all the way there and experienced these 2 situations.

I went at 5pm on a weekday and managed to get my seats and crabs easily. Not bad, but the pepper is a bit overwhelming for me. Perhaps some people find it just nice, like some of my colleagues.

2) Defu lane crab

Crab in superior broth with vermicelli is supposed to be their best crab dish. Some of my colleagues also recommend their crab with butter and skimmed milk, which I personally find too creamy with a cheesy taste. I'll recommend their black pepper crab, which is also pretty good.

This place though, I've heard that you might need to reserve crabs in advance or you might find none available for you when you reached there. Some of their other dishes are also pretty nice too, like their beancurd in mini wok and their baby back ribs in honey pepper sauce.

Which of these 2 places do you prefer?

Foodstreet at Smith Street(Chinatown) $25 for 2 crabs.

7 storey hotel(Bugis)
